The Provance Blog will provide you with expert advice, insights and opinions in regard to IT Service Management, Microsoft, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft System Center.
Happy New Year! Here's a short blog-ahead look at what's in store over the next year in terms of all things Provance.
First, if you were too busy planning your holiday festivities last month, a reminder that the Microsoft System Center Service Manager CU-1 was released late last year. If you're making a fresh install of Service Manager, be sure to use the latest version 1.1 release of the Provance IT Asset Management Pack. If you've upgraded to CU-1 from an existing installation of Service Manager, you will not need to update your Provance IT Asset Management Pack installation. See more information in this blog post.
2011 begins with the arrival of the latest version of the Provance IT Asset Management Pack for Microsoft System Center Service Manager 2010. The new version 1.1i ("i" for international) release is available in French and German. In addition to multiple currency support already available in the Provance IT Asset Management Pack, extended language support now means companies with international interests will have strong support for IT Asset Management and Software Asset Management programs that span national borders, languages and currencies. In fact, over 40% of current Provance IT Asset Management customers are based in Western Europe and have a requirement to support multi-lingual users tracking IT costs in euros, pounds and dollars.
For our friends at Microsoft, Provance will participate in TechReady 12 next month in Seattle. Seb Clement, director of Product Development, will be on hand to demo some of the more technical features that we don't typically showcase in standard demonstrations, such as using the Service Manager Authoring Tool to customize the forms, data elements and workflows provided with the Provance IT Asset Management Pack without coding. Seb will be part of the MOD204 IT Process & Compliance Management Partner Solutions presentation on Wednesday, February 16th from 1pm to 2:15pm.
Once again this year Provance is pleased to be a bronze sponsor of Microsoft Management Summit (MMS) 2011. The date has moved up this year, from late April/May to mid-March, so you'll need to make sure to make your conference arrangements early. Apparently this year's conference also overlaps Spring break, so don't delay in lining up your flights and hotels. The Provance team has recently made their travel arrangements, and based on our experience, the demand seems high. You may find that rates are high and options may be limited if you wait until too close to the conference date. In forthcoming blogs we'll pass along some further tid bits about MMS, including suggestions for a few "must attend" sessions and details about a forthcoming new Provance process management pack that we'll debut at the show (shhhhh!). See Aneil Hussein's blog post for more about MMS.
Speaking of which, keep an eye on the Provance blog for details about our newest addition to the Provance product line. The product is in alpha now, and will go to a closed beta in a couple of weeks, with release currently planned in H1 2011. Add an RSS subscription to our blog feed to make sure you don't miss the breaking news!
Currently, the R2 release of Microsoft System Center Service Manager is expected in H2 2011, along with new revs of the other System Center family of products. The Provance Development team is again participating in the Service Manager TAP, and we'll again be collaborating with the SCSM engineering team to ensure the next major iteration of the Provance IT Asset Management Pack is updated, enhanced and optimized for Service Manager R2 later this year.
Throughout 2011 you'll have several opportunities to meet with members of the Provance at conferences and events in every corner of the world. In addition to Microsoft Management Summit (MMS) 2011 in Las Vegas in March, you'll find Provance represented at the TechEd events in the US (June) and elsewhere around the globe (TBD), CeBIT in Germany in March, the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference (July), the IAITAM (International IT Asset Managers) Annual Conference and Exhibition (October) and at many other Microsoft, IT Asset Management, Software Management and user group gatherings. Again, we'll continually update our event list to let you know where we'll be…and if you can't make it, we'll give you a full report in our blogs! On behalf of all of us at Provance, we wish you a happy and prosperous year!
