Provance recognized for innovation, Microsoft integration in latest Gartner MarketScope

In the new MarketScope for the IT Asset Management Repository published April 2nd, 2013, Gartner Research evaluated 14 IT Asset Management (ITAM) solutions targeted at midsize and large enterprises.

Provance was rated overall as 'Promising,' and received recognition from Gartner for its strong integration with Microsoft System Center 2012 and its ability to rapidly innovate. The lack of multi-tenancy support in the Microsoft platform and manual source reconciliation by some Gartner customers are cautionary notes. Gartner recommends the Provance IT Asset Management Pack as an option for Microsoft-centric businesses, particularly those who have implemented Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager or Service Manager components.

According to the Gartner MarketScope rating framework, the 'Promising' category is defined as "Shows potential in specific areas; however, initiative or vendor has not fully evolved or matured." Provance, as well as CA Technologies and IBM were among 9 of the 14 solutions evaluated who received a similar categorization, prompting Gartner to establish the Overall Market Rating as Promising.

Of the other five solutions, none received a 'Strong Positive' rating from Gartner, and only two very large IT operational suite vendors, BMC and HP, achieved a rating in the 'Positive' category; however, Gartner noted the significant market share decline of 16% and 21% (respectively) by these two vendors in the most recently measured one-year period.

Two vendors, LANDesk and Symantec-Altiris, were placed in the 'Caution' category. VMware received a 'Strong Negative' rating.

Additional vendors did not qualify for this MarketScope (as outlined in Gartner's Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria section) due to insufficient functionality, unproven viability or because they were not appearing on any shortlist created by Gartner's clients.
